LESSON 1 : ROMANTICISM IN MUSIC

-         Music and others arts of Romantic period were based on emotion, adventure, and imagination.


MUSICAL FORMS OF THE ROMANTIC PERIOD
        The musical forms of the Romantic were the vocal and instrumental forms.
VOCAL FORMS
        The opera and the recitative and arias were the vocal forms of the Romantic Period.
OPERA
       Opera is drama set to music. Opera is the best-loved theatrical genre of the 19th century in Europe’s three leading musical centers-France, Germany, and Italy.
RECITATIVE AND ARIAS
      A recitative is a vocal part that is recited rather than sung.

INSTRUMENTAL FORMS

*CONCERTO
    This is a form for one or more solo instruments and orchestra in three movements.

*CHAMBER MUSIC
   This is a music intended for performance by a few musicians before a small audience.
*SONATA
   This is the instrumental composition with three or four movements differing in rhythm and mood but related in key.
*BALLET
   This is a form of musical theater in which a story is told through dancing, pantomime, and scenic effects.
*SUITE

   This is a modern instrumental composition in several movements of different characters.
